Okay, so I am sure that everyone here has seen an obese person at one point in their life. What do you think when you see an obese person? Are they lazy and unhealthy? Are they any less of a person? Are they contributing to society by being obese? Have you been called fat before?

I have struggled with my weight all my life. Im currently at a high and it makes me feel like total crap. However, for some reason and on the contrary to how I usually deal with it, I cant seem to motivate myself to get back into shape. Being overweight is hard enough, but for someone to be plain obese, is quite sad to see, and you see it way to much.
When I look at these obese people, its really hard NOT to judge. They must be lazy, eat fast food, diet wrong and have a lack of exercise... however you dont know the real story behind it. There shouldnt be any excuse for obese people with medical science being as advanced as it is, and every person should be responsible for their body. They then have deal with the consequences.(Diabeties, heart problems, etc.)

Im finding it really hard to put how I feel into words on this subject at the moment.. Ill revise if needed.

If the obesity is caused by a medical condition of some sort (medication, whatever) then it's a pity.
If the obesity is caused by the persons complete lack of self control when eating and inability to get off their arse, then I judge them as lazy as fuck, and all the health problems heading their way may make them think back and say "Gee I wish I wasn't so bloody lazy".

To be honest, I don't really think anything beyond "they've got their troubles, I've got mine." It's ignorant to think that every fat person wants to be skinny, or that they're a drain on society.

I feel bad for all of them.

Their obesity isn't affecting me. So....I wish them the best of luck in losing it and extending their life!

I think everyone agrees that if its to do with a medical condition, then its a shame and hopefully we can make medical advances to sort this out.

However, if it is their fault then i have very limited sympathy. If they are happy how they are then fine, but its these obese people who say they have tried everything and cant lose weight...they simply cant have tried everyting or not tried it well enough.

What i hate most is when you see like 7 year olds who are so overweight its unreal, that isnt fair at all.

Agreed, parents are probably to blame

I have known of obese people that complain about being overweight and wanting to get into shape... but still eat McDonalds every day and do nothing. I don't understand. My weight was at a high at the beginning of this year and I realised how much I hated it. The laziness, the sluggish feeling and I hated the way I looked. So I took up recreational sport and I try and eat alot healthier. I feel bad for obese people when they get made fun of, but I don't really understand how alot of them let themselves get to the way they are.

But my pet hate is people who complain about it but won't do anything to help themselves.

I think if you really, really want to lose weight and really put yourself to work, then almost everbody can! It has to start in your head, though. You obviously won't get anywhere by whinging about your weight. I really agree on the obese children thing. It should be outlawed to feed your little children crap!

I like how people sneer when people fall off the wagon/fail to lumber themselves on to it and don't think they have any part in the problem by merit of their utter derision and lack of support.

What if the "medical" condition is compulsive over-eating? Depression? Where do you draw the line at what makes fat "acceptable"?

I just look at it this way. Even though there obese, they might have a medical problum which makes them fat. Not everyone can stay fit easily. But then there are those other obese people who eat alot(not healthy) and don't workout. Those are the people who bother me, because they are the ones that complain that there fat. They made them selves get that way. And lately i was watching this show with kids who were about 2-6 years old and obese. Oh my gosh. They weighed more than me! How could the parents let that happen to there kids? If they want cookies or somethine give them one or two not the whole bag. They are going to grow up with so many problums, physical and mental. I have been called fat before. By people who dislike me and thinking calling me fat is going to do something to hurt me. Its not going to because I know im not fat. My mom calls herself fat. She had 2 kids. Of course getting rid of that is going to take awhile but you have to work at it. She does but then she gets off track and stops. Which this year i'm going to work with her. Hopefully we will stay on track and meet her goal.(:

When people are walking down the street and see a fatty do they stop and say to themselves, "Oh they may have a condition so I won't judge" or do they just jump right on the hate-wagon? I call you ALL on your shitty excuses.
Panic!
I'm such a hypocrite when it comes to this. Everytime I see a fat person I think to myself "Dang, how hard is it to stop eating so many damn Pringles"--then I think to myself, "Dang, it's pretty damn hard for me (at my size) to order less than two hamburgers at my favorite hamburger place, it must be harder for them... that sucks"
