Just wondering. I nap a lot during the day, apparently the wannabe doctor in my house AKA sister think's it's a sign I'm depressed which I think is the stupidest thing I've heard. So what do you think? Do you nap? How often? And do you think it's healthy or not?
Robb
If I am tired as I haven't slept well I'll take an hour, nothing wrong with that.
Chronic tiredness requiring lots of naps can be a sign of diabetes, so you may want to go to a doctor to be sure. Better safe then sorry.

I normally don't have time to nap. However, on the rare occasion, I'll be REALLY tired and take a 2-4 hour nap. I don't think its unhealthy unless that's all you do.

I love napping!!! After work I lay down for an hour or two a few times a week at least.

I would love too, but I never have the time anymore w/ school & work. sad.gif

When I was a fresh/sophmore/junior in high school (before i got my job) i would come home and pass out at 5 and sleep the whole night or wake up for an hour or two and go back to bed. (especially on shop week.)

Now that I am at college, I nap all the time. Okay, maybe 2-4 times a week. It's just refreshing.

I take naps once or twice a week. After a morning shift at work, if i didnt get enough sleep the night before. I dont think its unhealthy. Naps are great ;]

i cant nap during the day. I just am not able to fall asleep during the day. But I'm sure it's healthy to do it every now and then
KJ
I'll sometimes take a nap two to three times a week but it's usually just after a morning shift where I had to get up early or I didn't sleep well the night before. I don't think it's unhealthy, I used to nap a LOT more when I was doing sports and stuff. As long as you're doing more than just sleeping, then there's no harm.

I can't stand naps. I always wake up in a bad mood when I take them lol.

Being diabetic and with all my other issues I either have to take a nap during the day pretty much every other day or sleep a ton during the night. It really just sucks how tired I am after I do the smallest things. But I think it's healthy and if I am tired I take a nap. No harm done.

On the diabetic thing, I thought about it and I might be at risk. My mum has diabeties as did my grandma. I'll probably get checked once my doctor is free.

I take a nap once in a while. If I'm really tired. Usually my lazy butt doesn't get up so I just sleep through the night too.

I work mostly overnights so I spend A LOT of time sleeping during the day! but on my days off I usually take a nap at NIGHT! Well more like going to sleep a couple hours early! I definitely dont think it's unhealthy though!

I hate taking naps. I feel like I missed out on the world while I was asleep, and I just get incredibly crabby.
Alycia
I don't nap very often because I have enough trouble getting to sleep at normal time as it is, so my doctor once told me not to nap. If I am REALLY tired I may, in fact I napped two days ago because I'm sick and constantly tired at the moment. Not to mention it is impossible for me to sleep with any light in the room! I don't think there's anything wrong with napping, especially when you're so busy.

I learned in my sociology class that the human body is supposed to nap around 2 - 3 but instead we drink a redbull or something to keep us going. some cultures rotate around that 2 -3 oclock nap.
Lindsey
I do on the days Caiden does. It's nice. smile.gif

Nana naps RULE!

And neetie, that guys comment wasn't entirely stupid -- a symptom of depression is napping a lot during the day. But out of context his "diagnosis" is irrelevant. Anyway, I've heard that a 20-minute powernap is good for you. Problem is, I will sleep longer than 20 minutes.
angel_babbyx3
Yeah, I remember taking health class back in like 8th grade. And napping came up. Our health teacher said a nap is classified from anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. Anything longer than that and your sleep deprived?

Fuhrer that guy is my sister LOL. & yes I know that but I'm absolutley positive I'm not deperssed. As for sleep deprived, somedays but I mostly just nap cuz I need 'me time' and it's so refreshing!

For some reason, I thought you said one of your sister's friends who was a guy... don't ask.

I hope it's nothing as serious as diabetes but sometimes I do get really exhausted and have to take naps, especially if I haven't eaten much.

That sounds very much like diabetes.
love fuhrer
Or just general exhaustion.
Robb
Yup, could just be general exhaustion, but the "especially if I haven't eaten" part.

Of course none of us on here are doctors, if you are ever worried, consult you local GP as they can do a pin prick test regarding diabetes.
pinkberryislove
Yes it is typical of diabetics. I was diagnosed with Type One diabetes when I was 8.

When I'm having bad days I take lots of naps, especially when I'm in my lows.
haveaniceday
Usually i am lazy
lovelorn21
Yes, I nap during the day for 2 hours... I've rested after cleaning my room. It's exhausting.
