the other day my sound stopped working when i play videos. like youtube vids or whatnot. it works fine for everything else, just not videos or flash games. any way to fix it?

my laptop is an acer aspire 3610, windows xp. if that helps any.

Is it just youtubes videos, and other online videos, or any video, including WMVs, avis mpeg4 etc that are stored on the hard drive?

hrmm.. i dont have any videos stored on my hd..
playing music from my hd works though

Download a movie or two to your computer, just any small video should do it. Once done, open it up and play it, see if you have sound with that.

Also check if on youtube if the volume slide under the video is set to high or mute.
