Panic!
About 5 minutes ago my phone vibrated telling me that I had a new text. It came up a number in my area code, but the number was not familiar. When I hit the "read" button, my phone froze. I can't do anything, I can't even change the volume on the outside of the phone (side buttons). I can't call or view contacts. Everytime I open my phone random numbers will show up and the volume status goes wild. I've tried turning it off multiple time and taking out the SIM. Help?

i looked online for you and here are some answers i got:

Alright. You got the virus called "Skull" virus.

What is does is basically replace every executable file in your cellphone with the virus. Which has a skull icon.

First, you didn't get that from an MMS. You got it from a bluetooth send. It's primarily because most cellphones do not allow sending programs (Including viruses) thru MMS. They only allow pictures or sound files.

Second, you ALLOWED the virus to infect your system. EVERY program that is installing in your system the cellphone asks the user if they WANT to install it. You probably installed it thinking it's a game or something.

Third, try to change your cellphone brand if you do not want that happening again. (Or just be more careful and installing files sent by any people.) That "virus" only works if you have a Symbian cellphone, in which the majority is Nokia cellphones. So basically using other brand such as Motorola or Ericsson will render that virus harmless because, well, they ain't symbian devices.

To remove SymbOS.Commwarrior.A:

1. Install a file manager program on the phone.

2. Enable the option to view the files in the system directory.

3. Search the drives, A through Y, for the systemappscommwarrior directory.

4. Delete the files commwarrior.exe and commrec.mdl.

5. Go to the systemupdatescommwarrior directory.

6. Delete the files commwarrior.exe, commrec.mdl, and commw.sis.

lol, actually i'm not sure how much that'll help... sorry. but if you go to google, there seemed to be a lot of info on it. i would suggest going to the store of your carrier (t-mobile, verizon, etc..) and ask them, they'll probably be more knowledgeable.

Thanks Tasha.

Only I'm not sure that's what I have. Because I never do anything with bluetooth. I've tried looking this up, but nothing seems to be like what I have.

So as of right now, I'm using a super old phone without color, it has a green screen light and black letters smile.gif
My phone is what's "broken", my SIM is o.k.

I'm assuming that you've tried pulling the battery and putting it back in? This will reset the phone.

No, I turned it off, then took out the battery. The power button was the only key that worked. But I just tried to pull out the battery and it didn't seem to make a difference.

You should be able to take your phone to one of your provider's stores and get it re-imaged. However, this will remove all of the personal information on your phone (contacts, pictures, etc).

I think I'll do so. And most of my contacts are in my SIM, so I don't really have to worry about those getting lost
