During 1st period Monday in Global Studies my teacher brought up the "so-called" end of the world date.
December 21,2012
ON this day is to believed that the world will end. i'm not sure how. i haven't been able to read this site long enough:
http://endoftime2012.com/

There are also other sites but this one makes more sense.
So the earth goes through 5 cycles. Supposedly we are in the fifth cycle and it ends December 21,2012. The only reason it is believed to end this day is because of the Mayan calendar ends on that random day on that random year. Well not only do the Mayans's calendar ends that day but so do other tribes (i forgot about them now, but i'll add later if i remember) Well in people's eyes this isnt a coincidence. None of these tribes had any contact with eachother in the making of this calendar although tribes from central and north america believed to have contact and so made their calendars alike. But since all these different places have the same calendars everyone is starting to believe that is the believed date the world will end.

I know in the Christianity religion no one is to know about the exact date ( i am Christian but, i'm not going to disagree just yet eh if scientists have ACTUAL PROOF than, no religion can really go against that) people already believe that the religion is going down anyways. but what is your opinion?
i do believe this is rather bullshit..but i would like to know what you guys think

i'll believe it when it happens.
i don't tend to get too stuck into these kind of things because i would just feel like an idiot for worrying, if it doesn't happen.

People also believed that a big meteor would hit the earth on Septemer 9, 1999 at 9:09. But that didn't happen, did it?

Discussion of beliefs is all very well and good, but this is absolutely crap.
