I'm getting a driving lesson on the weekend to learn how to drive manual (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Al tried to teach me again and it ended in tears, so I thought I'd get a proper driving instructor to do it. Yay! With their own brakes and everything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

i was so intimidated when i first learned but i picked it up fairly quickly. i did learn to drive using a TDi which was like 'un-stall-able' so i was lucky. my father has only owned 5 speeds and it was pretty much a prerequisite for my brother and me.

Wow, I'm a panicker. I did ok, but could have done better. Will need a few more lessons. By golly it's scary - I don't like having to think about that many things at once! I know you have more control over the car when it's a manual, but I just cannot get my brain around...why...anyone would want to drive like that. To me, the automatic makes sense. Put your foot down, go. None of this foot up hand over foot down change feet business. Anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) That's just my I-hate-driving-brain.

You want to drive a manual because it's true, you do have more control over the car! I reckon it also makes you pay more attention to the surroundings as well because you have shit to do (other than just hitting the accelerator/brakes).
But... change feet? |

My left leg is used to being lazy.
I know there's no changing feet but I get my legs muddled up and my right leg tries to do everything. I'm surprisingly uncoordinated when it comes to driving. Sports I'm fine with, but driving...I think I find it so scary that I lose the ability to think. Whenever I was panicking on Saturday, I'd throw my hands up and be like "I can't remember anything!" Gah. |
