I'm not going to look at the videos, because I know what the campaign is about. Hopefully. And I think it's a great idea, I have loved the commercials I've seen on TV. I'm glad that one company is not just talking about how people are beautiful but still put the generic beautiful people on their ads, but is actually doing something about it.

Other companies are starting to catch on & are using the typical woman in their commericals. The other day I saw a bra commercial with women all types of shapes & sizes.

In the Oprah magazine my mom had there ws an article on women who loved their bodies just the way they were and the women showed their naked bodies to prove that they weren't ashamed even though one was a 94 year old woman. Some people may think this is disgusting but I personally thought that it was beautiful and was happy that there were still average people out there who loved themselves for what they were.

Yeah, I've seen those, or at least ones similar to it, and I think it's a great idea. Women are almost programmed to believe that there is one "true" kind of beatuy, and that's not the case at all. We come in all shapes and sizes, and this diversity is a good thing.

I've seen one of the Dove ads - the one where they show the process of makeup/photoshoot/photoshopping = advert. I found it absolutely shocking (even though really, we all know that they do it.)
I must say the cynic in me did think "Ahh, so the 'real' body is the newest fashion craze?" But it is 200% on what we have already, and I think it's great that they are exposing the process because we all should be feeling better about ourselves than we are currently. |

So i thought i would add something new to this.
Are you happy with your body ? What would you change if you could change anything about yourself ? Do you think people judge people by there look too much ? My Opinions No, personally i am not happy with my body. I would change my weight. Yes, people do judge by looks too much, everyone does it. But i think too many people are discriminated by color and race and religion. This post has been edited by beautifully-broken: Mar 27 2007, 12:13 PM |

Here is the thing: People's views on beauty stem from those of previous generations. As surgical skill improves, all that really changes is how exclusive our definition becomes. To change the perception of beauty is to change the verdict of the judgment of people.
It doesn't matter that people judge, it's safe to assume that generally it's a negative outcome that hurts. This isn't hard to evidence, how often do you hear about someone agonising about compliments that they are receiving? I could answer your questions though: Not particularly, but this is unrelated to beauty. What I would change I'm not saying, and I suspect it would turn into a desire to change more things, because changing the first thing would just have to go wrong somehow. Yes, but I imagine most complaining comes from people doing it at all. This flies in the face of the fact that even the complainants do it, and they know it. |

QUOTE So i thought i would add something new to this. Are you happy with your body ? What would you change if you could change anything about yourself ? Do you think people judge people by there look too much ? No im not. Im by no means fat, but i just wish i was skinny like the girls at my school. I would change my legs... I feel like theyr big and i have stretch marks at the tops of them. Yes. People judge way too much on appearence , it's really not fair. I really wish that it was a judgemnt free environment but its not and when i stand next to some of the popular girls in PE and theyr like tiny i feel so horrible (IMG:http://www.aimgirl.com/talk/style_emoticons/default/thumbdown.gif) Like i said before, the dove beauty campaign is great!I wish most other commercials used real women and i think that would make girls feel alot better about themselves. |

QUOTE So i thought i would add something new to this. Are you happy with your body ? What would you change if you could change anything about yourself ? Do you think people judge people by there look too much ? -honestly, there are things i do like about my body. but altogether as a whole no i am not happy with it -i would probably like to be taller, a little more curvey, better smile, better skin, lots of little things -yes definitely. i do it too. it's not something you can really help because when you first meet someone, all you have to judge them by is their appearance. |

Are you happy with your body ? Overall, actually, yes.
What would you change if you could change anything about yourself ? I'd wanna be 2 inches taller. Do you think people judge people by there look too much ? Yes, I do. But I dont think theres a way we can stop it. It's human nature. |

This add is beautiful! I usually hate commercials, but this is something that deserves to be televised! Are you happy with your body ? Well... not really. I'm not fat, but I would like to be a little more skinnier then I am now, just a couple of pounds. What would you change if you could change anything about yourself ? Minus a couple of pounds. Do you think people judge people by there look too much ? I wished I could say no, but... yes. People are impressed to much by the looks, so if a girl or boy is beautiful, people listen to her/him, and if somebody is ugly, he is probably going to have a lot more work to do to be heard. Which is one of the biggest shames in the world. This post has been edited by Deiu*: May 31 2007, 02:12 PM |

Are you happy with your body ? Actually not altogether unhappy.
What would you change if you could change anything about yourself ? Nothing too drastic, my nose is very slightly crooked but it doesn't bother me all that much. I'd also like to tone up my legs, and get stronger, I used to have scary legs! But that's down to me getting off my ass. Do you think people judge people by there look too much ? Definitely, but it's human nature, we have ingrained instincts that tell us the criteria of a suitable mate. I don't believe in perfection myself though. |
