You'd be amazed how many people don't realise that, eno's. This thread kind of scares me to be honest, it's pretty damn fucked up. Maturity very much depends on an individual, but that doesn't mean that I would be happy about hearing a 15 year old was pregnant.

I'm not amazed. I know how stupid people are. Since being a cashier, I've noticed (not to discriminate or anything, by any means) that those who have food stamps, or get wic usually have the worst behaved children. They also tend to be younger, and I have noticed they dont smell that great...and their kids well, they are so dirty you want to go and throw them in a bathtub for a week. I hate seeing the girls I knew in high school come into my store and buying baby things. Cause I just want to pop out at them and scream at them, asking if they like buying 25 dollar cans of formula, or 20 dollar box of diapers. And do you seriously think they will stop partying? They dont. They could seriously give a crap, because they dump the baby with their parents! Not saying having help from your parents is a bad thing, but did my parents ever dump me when I was little with my grandma anytime they wanted to party? No. My parents usually took me with them. Or hired a babysitter. These kids dont have money for that. But, what is there to stop them? Can't stop em from screwing each other. Can't make it mandatory to have an abortion. As long as they don't have anything major at risk, they will keep having them. I mean, the risk of STD's or the risk of pregnancy isnt so bad! *note the sarcasm in that*

In my opinion, the reason some people think its fashionable to have a baby is because of the "celebrity baby boom" that happened like a few months ago or a year ago. I mean Brad and Angelina's baby, Tom Cruise and his wife's baby, Britney and K-Fed and etc. All these celebs had babies in a similar time period so all we could see in magazines in 2006 was celebrity babies...maybe that's why girls think it's fashionable?
Just a thought. |

Yeah well like it or not, regardless of the fact of how good a parent they would make the celebrities have one things over all these girls: money. They have the money to put down for their kids to feed them, clothe them, and put a roof over their head. Mind you, they may not be the best parents, but they have that going for them.

Throwing money at a child does not make you a good parent, nor does paying for the best nannies, schools etc. Sure money might make life a bit easier, but if you're a crap parent it wont make any difference in the long run.

But then again you can have all the love in the world and not the means to look after them in anyway you can. Thats why its best until you a bit older and can give both of these things.

I know that, but my point was atleast they can afford the kid. (IMG:http://www.aimgirl.com/talk/style_emoticons/default/errm.gif) Britney Spears is a prime example-she is not in line for mother of the year, by any means. But she can atleast buy her kids food, if she remembers it |

I find that to be a TERRIBLE stereotype. I, Myself, recieve WIC for myself and Caiden. I smell fine, my son is clean. I have a well behaved child who is loved, and is growing up in a great environment. Eric works 40 hours a week and brings in enough to cover, bills, and then some. The fact we recieve WIC does not mean we are the scum of the earth. Sure, in some cases that can be true, but PLEANTY of 'normal' families don't have perfect children either. Sure, I had a kid at 17, but I certainly have made sure I can not only provide financially for him, but in every other way too. |

I said that i wasnt trying to discriminate, and used the word "usually" meaning not EVERYONE. Also, take note of where you live compaired to where I do. I dont know about your town, and I wont say that I do. But where I live, there are more lower class people than middle class. I'm not talking rich, I'm talking average middle class people. There are a lot, but the majority are lower class. But again, I said I wasnt discriminating. I was just stating what I observe at work.

Even if you use a condom or are on the pill. I was and then one day, it was BAM! your having a baby... I admit Im not the perfect child, but I have never been the stereotypical "chick who falls pregnant". I dont think you are either, but the chances are there. well i should have put never have sex hehe sorry ... i have very bad tocophobia (IMG:http://www.aimgirl.com/talk/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) i feel sick just at the thought of pregnancy. |

I have a similar view to pregnancy that Jadey has, I just don't have a maternal bone in my body and I can't stand being around children. I used to babysit a lot, but back then I kind of liked kids. So I'm not quite sure brought this on.
Celebreties having kids is all well and good. But kids should learn that just because someone famous does something, doesn't mean that it's smart. |

My hometown has had a large baby boom to teenage parents in recent years. Large enough that the high school I graduated from now has a day care center as an effort to try and get the girls to graduate high school. I graduated high school in 2004... some of the girls in my class were having kids as far back as 7th grade. My freshman class in high school was about 200 people... between freshman year and senior year our numbers declined down to 78... my senior year was when the day care was started in my high school. When the daycare was started and was made free for students, my class increased back up to 100. There were still other girls who had kids and didn't come back but a majority of our drop outs were girls who had kids. A lot of it went in groups of friends too. 1 girl would be pregnant, then a month or so later, 3 or 4 of her friends are pregnant as well. Our school tried to teach us, but at the same time, it didn't work. They start sex ed really young in my town because of the numbers of pregnancies. 6th grade we had to do that project where you have to carry an egg around everywhere and you can't break it. Most peoples eggs didn't make it a week, if you can't take care of an egg, what makes you think you can take care of a kid?
