I've decided to try and make sushi (probably tomorrow).. anyone ever make it, and have any suggestions? I think I'm going to do a vegetarian one (for Will cause hes a big baby) and I have a filet of salmon, and going to get some crab meat. I got my avocados, cucumber, carrot. Gotta get my rice and nori still.
Or anyone have any specific type of roll they like that I could try? I kinda wanna keep it basic, as its my first time. But I'm totally open for suggestions! |

My basic sushi consists of imitation crab mixed with mayo and sriracha sauce and avocado. I've been wanting to try and make tempura rolls (:
These are helpful YouTube videos/channel btw: http://www.youtube.com/user/MySushiDaddy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrCrG-EMr8g |

I like tuna and avocado! Making your own sushi takes some time, but I think it's totally worth it. Let's see some pictures when you're done making them!

Definitely post some pictures when you've made it! I love sushi and would like to make it but we live really close to a cheap place that does really great sushi and other Japanese dishes, so we've never attempted it.

i love making sushi! it really isn't as hard as you'd think.
my first attempt, i had a sushi making kit which helped alot. but all you really need are the bamboo mats to help roll them. if you're buying sushi rice, make sure you follow the directions exactly (at least for your first time) cause the rice can really make or break it. you can use certain regular short grain rice too... if you stir it alot to release the gluten, it'll become stickier as well. i've had a few friends over and we've all made sushi together, so i usually have a platter of a bunch of things to put in it. -cucumber -carrots -avocado -cream cheese (cut the block lengthwise in strips) -salmon or tuna -crab meat i'd also get soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger. goodluck! i just made my tummy growl lol now i wanna make some |

The thing with me is that every time I do make it, while I cut the rolls, I start to eat a couple pieces so by the time I'm done making the whole batch, I'm already super
full lmao! How did it turn out?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Exact! Same thing happened to me lol. I was SO full by the time I was done. Between eating the rice off my fingers and snatching a piece of the roll here or there lol. But it turned out really really well. I posted a pic to my FB ill try and post one here later. But it was really really delicious!!
